Laser ACSR conductors are made up of concentrically stranded conductors with single or multiple layers of hard drawn aluminium wire on galvanized steel wire core as per IS; ASTM, BS EN, DIN; IEC, NFC. Depending on the size of the conductor, the steel core can be single wire or stranded.
The conductor is constructed from a solid steel core surrounded by aluminium stranding. Additional corrosion protection may be provided through the application of grease. The proportion of steel and aluminium in an ACSR conductor can be selected based on the mechanical strength and current carrying capacity demanded. ACSR conductors offer high strength and conductivity as they combine the lightweight and good conductivity property of aluminium with the high tensile strength of steel. These conductors have a good strength to weight ratio. They are preferred over other overhead conductors inline designs because of their higher tensions, less sag, and longer span lengths properties
