Adhering to Indian Railway Standard IRS: TC 30-05, Laser Quad Cables are Jelly filled Cables consisting of a Solid Copper conductor, HDPE Insulation, 4 Cores twisted in star Quad,
further 4 or 6 Quads twisted together with Petroleum Jelly and covered with non-hygroscopic tape.
Moisture-resistant Aluminum tape coated with copolymer on both sides is also applied longitudinally; the construction further comprises of LDPE Inner Sheath, screened with
non – magnetic Aluminum strips and taped with Barium Chromate and further PVC
Intermediate Sheathed, Double Steel tape Armoured and PVC Outer Sheathed.
